In 2011 Farmers Insurance, along with RPA Advertising Agency embarked on a campaign to create a new branding strategy to lead Farmers Insurance into a new era of product storytelling that is still going strong today.
Scott was tasked with many of the supporting creative needs for the emerging franchise. During the 9 day commercial shoot, he was the on-set illustrator, putting chalk drawings and his pre approved insurance equations on every chalk board used on the story being told. This included a chalkboard that was over 18 feet tall for the main set piece. For boards that were created exclusively for this shoot, Scott also needed to age them appropriately to look as if they had been used at university for over 50 years.
Scotts creative input didn't stop there. He consulted and created content for social media posts and pop up ads as well as creating a 20 page coloring book to be distributed internally to Farmers agencies. The coloring book illustrations and activities were all based on the stories from that, and the previous years campaign.
Scott also developed the design for their float entry in the Tournament of Roses Parade. Based on his Rube Goldberg concept, Farmers Insurance won the award for the "Best Animated Award" category for that year.
